Professional School Counselor
My why
tatiana green
As a young high school student I attended a school that had one guidance counselor for all 1400 of us students. As you can imagine the guidance we received was nowhere near adequate. As an aspiring first generation college student, I had no idea of what I should be looking for in a school, what scholarships were available to me, how to weigh out whether a certain degree is worth going into debt for, how to leverage my skills, how to network, how important internships were, and much more. My goal as a counselor has been to be the counselor I never had, to help students to have an easier journey than I did, maximize their opportunities, minimize their college debt and how not to make the mistakes I did.
School Counselor
Years of experience
I have been counseling students professionally for 5 years but have worked with youth for over 10 years through summer camps, outreach programs and after school programs.

The whole child approach
I aim to give children the foundation they need to become well-rounded, healthy individuals, equipped with a solid education and important life skills to help them reach their full potential. There is no one way to become successful!
Creativity
I like to come up with creative and innovative ways to connect with my students such as engaging lesson plans that help them connect with their peers or figure out their path in life, bulletin boards that pique their interests and inform them on different topics, and using the newest edTech on the market to adapt to our ever-changing society.
My skills and specialties
graphic design
I enjoy creating colorful and engaging graphics to engage the kids while imparting important information at the same time (examples in later slides)
afterschool programming
At my current school, I run an afterschool knitting club as well as co-run the Black Student Union club. Both clubs allow students to express themselves in different ways, connect with their peers and create a community within the greater school community.
How I work with my students
FREshman
Freshman students focus on building good study habits, balancing their academics with their extracurricular activities and becoming comfortable communicating their needs with their teachers, parents and peers.
Sophomores
Sophomores build upon the skills they learned as freshman, improving as they go while also starting to think more deeply about their strengths, likes and possible career paths they may be interested in,
Juniors
Juniors focus on optimizing their grades for college, prepping for standardized testing, while seeking out internships and summer programs in their field of interest. They should also start college research and campus visits.
Seniors
Seniors focus on finishing their college applications, continuing to do well in their courses as well as preparing for the transition to college, trade and career. Emphasis on soft skills, social aptitude and job readiness.
